I’m ashamed to say that my friends have told me I have an easy
life. I don’t know why I’m ashamed to admit it, but it’s true– I
have an easy life. I wake up without an alarm clock every morning.
I’ve been known to leave in the middle of the day to ride my bike
through forests and scenic highways. I’ve even been known to sleep
during business hours. Overall, I think most of my life’s
inconveniences are self-made.

So every once in a while I day dream of ways to make life harder,
or at least more interesting– stepping away from the day to day toil
that working in your underwear brings. Years ago I decided to ride a
motorcycle across the US, camping with only a sleeping bag along the
way. This drove Roy batshit crazy– mostly because (a) I didn’t know
how to ride a motorcycle (b) I bought a used bike in a dodgy dealer in
South Florida. Luckily the bike was reliable, I learned how to ride
it (without wiping out), and one night under the stars surrounded by
mosquitoes on a park bench was enough to pony up the money for comfy
motels throughout the rest of the journey.

I’m at a crossroads again. Having returned from a summer RVing
throughout the Pacific Northwest, and a few weeks visiting friends in
the UK, I’m once again bored. Nine to five is fine and exciting. I
do love my job after all, but what about those precious hours of five
to nine, the weekends, and all that PTO I can’t seem to spend fast
enough?

I actually threw out feelers among friends and family, on who would
be up for a clueless fishing expedition, where you are not allowed to
eat anything you haven’t caught, but I came out empty handed. Only
Meredith agreed, but I already knew she’s the coolest company ever!

So… I’m happy to say that from hours of seemingly senseless
footage on the GoPro camera, Mebs was able to edit the following
awesome video from a weekend of fun and pretty much no fish. A big
kudos to an extraordinary job of making sense of it all, and working
her magic behind the computer editing nonsensical videos.

Oh yeah, the voice sucks. Blame it on the lousy microphone on my ancient GoPro camera. I’ll see if we can get that fixed for the next installment.
